DESIGN GUIDE
Plan your design
Planning and purpose
This gallery brings together samples for distinct community occasions, including Jain observances, Nikah, Walima and Parsi Navjote. These events should keep their own names, approved wording and guest arrangements. Select the relevant sample and ask the family or organisers to confirm the programme before making changes. Do not assume that a general invitation template explains the ceremony correctly. Record the hosts, dates, venues and any attendance instructions separately, especially when connected celebrations happen at different locations. Every displayed sample uses fictional event details rather than announcing a real ceremony.
Design and readability
Choose typography and imagery that suit the specific occasion and the hosts’ preferences. Keep ceremonial wording separate from practical guest information. Long titles and family names need generous space, and bilingual versions should give both languages equal readability. Request approval for symbols and honorifics rather than borrowing them from an unrelated community sample.
Review the design at the size people will actually see it. Check names, numbers and spelling in every language, and leave enough space around important information. Ask for changes on the same proof so the final version reflects one agreed set of corrections.
Sharing and print preparation
Prepare separate proofs when related occasions need different guest lists or venues. Label files with the occasion and date so an older version is not forwarded accidentally. Check language spellings with the hosts in both digital and print proofs, and agree whether additional programme pages are needed before producing the final artwork.
Decide the final use before approving artwork. Digital sharing, a printed piece and a production file can need different exports. For printing, confirm dimensions, bleed, paper or material and finishing with the printer before the final file is prepared. Keep the approved version separate from earlier proofs.
Common questions
Should Nikah and Walima use the same invitation?
They can share a visual style, but each occasion should show its actual hosts, venue, date and guests. Use separate cards when the attendance arrangements differ, or clearly separated sections when one approved invitation covers both.
Can a Jain observance sample be adapted for another practice?
The layout can be adapted after the organisers supply the exact practice name, approved wording and programme. Do not change only the heading while leaving sample details that describe a different observance or completion ceremony.
